Pricing & Payments

The owner sets the rental price themselves. StartoRent does not impose fixed prices. You are free to set a daily rate that you consider fair for your item.

All payments are processed securely through StartoRent via Stripe. The renter pays the full amount at the time of booking. After the rental is completed, the owner receives their payout minus the platform commission.

StartoRent charges a 10% commission on each completed rental. This means the owner receives 90% of the rental price. There are no hidden fees β€” the commission is only charged when a rental actually takes place.

The renter pays the rental price as displayed on the listing. There are no additional service fees charged to the renter.

After the rental period is completed, the payout (90% of the rental price) is transferred directly to the owner's connected Stripe account. Owners must connect a Stripe account in their profile settings to receive payouts.

Taxes & Income

Yes. Income earned through StartoRent is considered taxable income. How it is taxed depends on your personal situation and the country you reside in. In most cases, it is classified as 'miscellaneous income' or 'professional income' depending on the frequency and scale of your rental activity.

Yes. You are responsible for declaring any income earned through the platform to your local tax authority. We recommend consulting your accountant or tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

Under EU regulation DAC7, online platforms are required to report seller/provider income to the relevant tax authorities. StartoRent complies with these regulations. For more details, visit our Tax Information page.

No. StartoRent is a rental platform and does not provide financial or tax advice. We strongly recommend consulting a qualified accountant or your local tax authority to understand your obligations.

Identity Verification

StartoRent offers a verification system where users can have their identity checked by submitting a valid identity document. This verification helps build trust within the platform. However, StartoRent does not perform a full legal or administrative check and cannot guarantee that all provided information is completely accurate.

Identity verification does not constitute confirmation of driving competency, insurance coverage, or suitability to use any specific item. Users remain solely responsible for complying with all legal requirements such as driving licenses, usage conditions, and insurance.

We accept a National ID Card, Passport, or Driving License. All documents are used solely for identity verification purposes. A driving license is accepted as proof of identity only β€” not as confirmation of driving competency.

Your document is permanently deleted from our servers immediately after review, whether approved or rejected. We only store your verification status and basic metadata (document type, country of issue) β€” never the document itself. This is in line with GDPR principles.

We typically process deletions within 7 days. You will receive a final confirmation email once your account is fully removed.
